The Venetian engineer Giulio Savorgnan (Palmanova), the scientist Leonardo da Vinci (Gradisca d’Isonzo) and the engineer, mathematician and astronomer Edmond Halley (Gorizia) guide visitors through the main technical solutions used in the construction of the respective fortresses.
A late 19th-century noblewoman accompanies visitors on a journey of discovery across the Castle of Gorizia, the Fortress of Gradisca d’Isonzo and the UNESCO-listed bastions of the star city of Palmanova.
The experience is composed of 12 short narrative videos that, through images and dialogue, tell the story of these three locations and the evolution of defensive fortification techniques from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. A cultural and educational route connecting three cities of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
Project funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region – Public call for scientific dissemination initiatives (2023).
