Afterward, the group will head toward Borgo Cividale, one of the city’s three entrances, where the Museum of the Great War and the Fortress of Palmanova is located in the upper part of the gateway. This site carefully preserves relics, documents, and weapons that identify the various stages and periods of rule over the city.
At the end of the visit, a walking route along the ramparts follows (exiting Porta Cividale, turn right toward the moat), where visitors can see symbols of Palmanova’s military history such as bastions and small bridges, alongside the flora and fauna present in the star-shaped city. Following the rampart path leads to Porta Udine, where visitors can admire the Venetian Aqueduct in white stone and the small waterfalls—an ideal spot to rest and enjoy a snack break.
The visit to Piazza Grande is accessible to people with mobility disabilities, while access to the ramparts involves walking along some unpaved dirt ramps. The terrain is flat.
