Tourist introduction

A short distance from the fortress, the Church of Saints Lorenzo and Sebastian welcomes visitors in the village of Sottoselva.

It tells the story of the area and its transformations over time.

Born from the union of two religious communities, it preserves elements from different historical periods, such as an ancient 16th-century holy water stoup.

This sacred building, a custodian of rural faith, stands out for its harmonious simplicity.

A modest and authentic place where history, faith and local tradition blend within a quiet and intimate setting.

Historical facts

The place of worship, resulting from the union of the church of Sottoselva and the estate of San Lorenzo, was established in 1813.
It was built on the site of the former church dating back to the 16th century, which was considered too small and located in an inconvenient position.
In 1847 the current structure was completed, and inside it houses a holy water stoup dating back to 1562, originating from the demolished Church of Saint Lorenzo.
Today, in memory of the historical events that shaped the two communities, the church is dedicated to Saints Sebastian and Lorenzo, both venerated as patron saints of Sottoselva.
